When most people have a headache or some sort of pain the first thing they do is take some sort of acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is also known as Tylenol, aspirin or ibuprofen. However researchers are discovering that teens who use acetaminophen develop asthma symptoms twice as often than teens who never took it. These results come from more than 322,000 children between the ages of 13 14 from 50 different countries who were tested. The drug is believed to perhaps have systemic inflammatory effects.
Asthma is inflammatory of the airways and it causes wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness and coughing. With the acetaminophen having systemic inflammatory affects that automatically triggers asthma symptoms. That's how this article relates to biology.
This is very important because we need to know the affects that other medications we take can has on our health. Especially if Tylenol is used everyday by thousands of teens to relieve aches and pains.
