Red Bearded Monkeys !

There was a recent find of a new species of monkey. It was found in the Amazon rainforest in the Columbian section. It is called Callicebus caquetensis which is a type of titi monkey. It has a big red beard and is about the size of a house cat. What scientists have found interesting is that it mates for life which is not common in monkeys. ''Pairs are often spotted sitting on branches with their tails intertwined.'' They usually have one baby per year and the father does most of the infant care which is probably some kind of evolutionary advantage. The monkeys are being forced to travel on the ground because their natural habitats are being destroyed.
This article has to do with biology because it is related to the study of life since scientists have discovered new species of animal. It also has to do with the environment since their's is becoming scarce. It even has to do with evolutionary advantages found in the way they mate and take care of their offspring.
We should care because since we are taking away their natural habitat, they are being forced to travel on the ground which makes them easier prey for predators. This is important since scientists estimate that there are fewer than 250 of them. They also have a crucial role in spreading seeds of plants since they are fruit eaters.
