A singer with the best selling German pop group, No Angels, announces in court that she had unprotected sex and has contracted the disease to one of her partners. Nadja Benaissa, 28, was diagnosed in 1999 and between 2000 and 2004 she had unprotected sex on five occasions with three different men. She stated that she had no intentions of transferring the disease. She also stated that she did not tell her partners of her disease because she thought the news would become public and it would damage her career and her eleven year old daughter. She believes that she caught the disease when she was experimenting with crack/cocaine during her teenage years. Benaissa is being charged with aggravated assault and if found guilty, she could be spending the next ten years behind bars.
This topic relates to science and biology through the diseases that the human body can contract. HIV is a sexually transmitted disease and if found in the body, extreme pain will be brought upon. There is no cure for this disease and it is passes down to the next generation.
We should care about this because the disease is being widely spread globally. The only way to prevent it is to be protected. One mistake could cause you to spend a lifetime full of regret as well as your children. If you do plan do have sexually relations, it’s best to tell your partner rather than to keep secrets because they should be the ones to know.
