A Future for AIDS

Obama has gather AIDS experts at the white house to discuss how to cut down new infections and to increase the amount of people who get tested and treated for HIV. In the United States more than 1.1 million people currently has AIDS. Each year 56,000 more people become infected. But many people now do not care about HIV as much. By 2015, the White House try to reduce new HIV infections by 25%, reduce the rate of the virus spreading by 30%, and to increase the percentage of testing for HIV positive from 79% to 90%. A research shows that people who know they are HIV positive and is treated is unlikely to spread the virus.

AIDS is related to the biology concepts by that its part evolution. HIV evolves from a virus found in chimps, SIV. Researchers believed that the virus in chimps somehow crossed species to human. There is several theory of how it crossed species. A few of them are the “Hunter” theory, the Colonialism theory, and the Conspiracy theory. The “Hunter” theory was the most commonly accepted theory. It tells how humans killed the chimp and eats them or the chimps’ blood got in the hunter’s wound. Sometimes the virus gets adapted to the host and turns to HIV-1.

This information is put in the internet because it is important to stop the virus from spreading to other people. The virus is deadly and can kill the host. It first infects the host, and then weakens it immune system. The amount of white blood cells falls and the host is easily infected by other diseases like a cold. AIDS is the second cause of death in the United States.
