Get Active!

Did you know that some researchers call some people "professional couch potatoes"? Well that's what they are studying and researching on. They are trying to see what kind of impact walking and physical activity can do to help the mind and body. Not only does physical activity get you fit and in shape, but it also enhances your brain's connectivity. The connectivity of the brain includes aging, deep thinking, etc. Brain connectivity is weakened as a person grows old, but walking for even 40 minutes for at least 3 days a week, can strengthen the brain's connectivity. Because of the brain's inconnectivity, some people are diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Scientists noted that people who have Alzheimer's have less connectivity. Not all exercises help the brain's connectivity though. The study shows taht walking is the best in increasing the connectivity.

This relates to biology because knowing that walking can help the brain, one of the needed organs, can lead to a different study that improve the brain's function even more. I also relates because it describes the relationship between physical activity and mental fitness. This topic also has to do with the nerves and the circuits in the brain. It describes how the brain is affected and how all the circuits are affected when people are lazy and all they do is watch television.

We should all care about our health! When we grow old, we want to remember all those who were a part of our lives. We want to know who our children are. We want to know who our children's children are. With this knowledge, we have a higher chance of remembering who all these people are. This information also helps us stay fit, not only to look good, but to feel good physically and mentally. We should also care because most of us are couch potatoes and this would be a good motivation for us all so we may remember the events in our life.
