23 endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles were released back into the Gulf on August 17, 2010. These were some of the 500 turtles that were rescued during the oil spill. The 23 lucky turtles were released near Cedar Key in Florida; luckily that area was clear of any oil.
Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles are endangered species. The reason for the endangerment is because of the constant hunting for the turtle’s eggs and meat. This species is one of only 8 sea turtle species. In the 1970’s, the Mexican and Texan government joined together to prevent further hunting of the species. Also poor fishing practices and entanglement can cause further damage to the species.
Man is good! So I want to say, but what have become of us that we have to endanger 20% of wildlife, it’s just a guess I don’t have the actual number, don’t bash about it if you don’t know it yourself. Because us humans know how to make tools out of simple materials such as wheels and walking sticks. Man is selfish! Because we are, doesn’t matter if we give to charity or donate our time to help others. 50% of the time, people do it for image or to get the requirement filled for high school. The things that we do because we humans are advanced species are for selfish reasons. But this is not about the wonders of man; it is the wonder of the ocean. We actually know more about the moon than the ocean. Seeing as the ocean can be a bottomless pit very close to the molten core.
Man is selfish for wanting to know everything. Our primitive instincts are taken over by the workings of things like trees and human bodies. And creating the illusion we all know, is money. We may never know the answers, but endangered species like the Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle deserve this answer; why is man so selfish? Why as animals are we treated differently than ‘humans’? We do not scurry for treasures of other animals because they have value, so why treat our unborn and our family as trophies?
These questions may have answers, but is there a true answer as to why, because of our reckless behavior, cost many organisms their lives, and give birth to unknown killers smaller than we can perceive with a naked eye?
