Millions of eggs produced in Iowa, California, Colorado, and Minnesota are being recalled after reports of Salmonella were reported. The following brands from Iowa, the largest producer of eggs, Wright County Eggs, are part of the recent recall, Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps. There were more than 300 cases of Salmonella reported since early June. This is four times the amount of cases normally reported.
Salmonella is a type of bacterium that causes fever/ stomach problems. Salmonella can be found in all organisms that are not plants. The actual causes of Salmonella are exposure to unclean food, excretions of sick humans or animals, polluted water or standing water (water that wasn’t used in a while from a bucket or hose), and association with reptiles and semi-aquatic animals (turtles). To prevent obtaining the bacteria itself, avoid eating food without washing them first. Dump out any water that is in a bucket outside for more than a few days. Clean out hoses while not in use (rains for a few days), and clean the water of reptilian pets.
This is important for us to be aware of what we eat and learn from the example of others. If you have a yard grow vegetables in it or something, get that land to good use. Seeds generally costs dollars and will save you plenty when you have a large harvest. I should know. And this also increases the distance between you and potentially dangerous diseases. Also this would also be a plus for the environment if the demand for meat products decline and the need for HOME cooked meals increases. I emphasize “home” because many people decide, for the most part, to buy cheap processed food instead of cooking their own food and growing it. If that was so, there would be no need to worry about whom processed this product, and if this product was handled in a place where they also handle products that you’re allergic to, or other phobias.
This bacterium can live weeks on dry surfaces and months in standing water. The oil spill makes it even worse as Salmonella cases increase in polluted water. And to make matters worse, not by too much though because of the warm weather, some beaches have closed down due to high bacteria levels in the water.
Eggs are very much an essential to the human diet, seeing as most of Americans eat eggs, but the company itself should take responsibility for its actions. The company itself neglected to examine the eggs, and someone is actually suing the company for her bad eggs.
