Due to new technology, surgeons are now capable of doing face transplant. At the BWH, transplant is done as a normal routine; a process that was not possible years earlier. The article explains what happens before and after a face transplant and what are the impacts of a face transplant. The article advances that transplant are a long and risky process because the patient might have to wait for years. The process depends on the donor. A patient might find a willing donor but might not have the same blood type or rejection by the patient’s body might occur. Further, the patient might experience psychological issue as well.
Face transplant is a new challenge for science. How can two non compatible bodies can be united? This shows that science has undergone a big phase of shift. However, it is still a risky process because transplanting the nose is the most difficult process. So, transplant involves physiology, anatomy, and psychology. These three subjects are united by science. Therefore, this article talks about science and its impact on humans’ life.
This article interests me because it talks about a controversial issue. Based on science, transplant is okay. However, a religious person might be opposed to disfiguring a person in order to save another. So, this process evolves debate and questions. Also, transplant is actually a rampant issue, so the next generation will have to face it. Nevertheless, I think might another option instead of disfiguring another person’s figure. We might try to use stem cells instead.
