Fructose sweeteners may hike blood pressure

Have you ever taken the time to stop and really think about what you were eating? Well maybe you should start because a study found that the more fructose and sugary goods you eat, tends to make your blood pressure higher. A study in 2008 also found that fructose also leads to hypertension. The scientists took mice and got rid of the gene that allows the small intestine to absorb salt. They then fed the mice a salt free diet and their blood pressure remained the same. That was in the mice though, so scientists decided to see what would happen in humans. The humas started out with no prior diagnoses of hypertension and sure enough some of the fructose affected the blood pressures.

This relates to science and biology because this is an important issue. Having a really high blood pressure can be bad so with these new studies scientists can make sure that everyone knows that too much of something good like sugary cookies and soda can be bad.

We should care about this topic because it involves our health. If people read this in a magazine or newspaper they might pay more attention to it rather than just being told what to do. They already know whats healthy and whats not but when someone important like a scientist who know what their talking about has an article about they might listen.
