Have you ever gotten a bad fever before? Have someone ever told you to get rid of your fever by taking drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.? Well in recent studies, scientists are starting to believe that these drugs could be doing harm to the brain and your body. I know you are probably thinking that this is ridiculous and medicine is suppose to help you, but sometimes these medicines are not needed in your body. In fact, scientists believe that fevers can fight against and protect your body from infections. A while ago, scientists have figured out that temperature plays a major role in the existence of some diseases in your body. Furthermore, they explained how the higher temperature your body has, the more prone your body is to fighting these diseases. One piece of evidence is that disease- fighting processes work better in hotter areas because it allows immune cells to live on an area where bacteria is near. Basically, it can stop infections from taking over your body. Evidently, modern day scientists have just ignored the good things that a fever could do and just treated it like a “bad cause” to one’s body. One experiment that scientists did was to test different people and see if giving them drugs would help them from infections; moreover, they tested a group of other people who also had fevers but didn’t give them any medicine. The whole point of this experiment was to see if the people not taking drugs would die or not. Surprisingly, the people not taking drugs survived and the others died. This really changed scientists whole outlook on fevers and how it can help fight against diseases.
I believe that this article relates to science because it has to do with the brain, body, and infections. Without learning about the brain and its functions, then we wouldn’t be able to deal with situations such as fevers. Fevers definitely relate to medical science in many ways. First off, it is related to the temperature in your body. In example, if your body has a high temperature, then you have a fever. Fevers also have to do with the brain and how it functions.
This article is important because it is a topic that everyone should know about. If I never read this, then I wouldn’t have known about fevers and how it could actually help you. I think this story definitely deserves to be in current science news because it is something that everyone experiences every day.
