Drowning in junk

Ever hear the expression one mans trash is another mans treasure? Well in the case of hoarders all of their trash is their treasures. Hoarding is a serious mental disorder. People sleep on beds with animal poop and hair. That's just disgusting if you ask me. It's like these people never thrown anything away, they just keep collecting everything they have and the crazy thing is most of the hoarders don't realize that their hoarding. They don't realize that their in danger of dying in their own home where they should be safe. If your a hoarder though your probably never safe in your house. There are so many things that could happen in a house with that much junk. For one thing fires could start and if there is a fire you would never be able to escape because all the exits are probably blocked.

This has to do with science and biology because hoarding has become a serious mental problem. It is a really unhealthy obsession that is dangerous. Hoarding can cause fires and other unsanitary things like rats living in the houses. Psychiatrists are still debating whether or not hoarding should be a part of the mental disorders manual, I think it should because some of the hoarding cases got so bad that people have died. They know somethings wrong but they won't let anybody help because their obsession got out of control.

We should care about this topic because a lot of hoarders are being discovered now. There are probably way more than we know because they don't like to admit that they have a problem. These hoarding problems are getting a lot of publicity now with shows out like TLC's "Hoarding: Buried Alive" and Animal Planet's "Confessions: Animal Hoarding". Hopefully people will start to realize how serious of a problem this is and hopefully they can change it before they get swallowed up in their junk.
