Hitting It Too Fast

Young girls could be in danger by going through a stage in life that all must go through. Yes, that stage would be puberty. Eighteen percent of white girls had already entered puberty at the age of 8! This increased rate is very dangerous for all the young girls, because it could be setting a trend. This early coming stage makes girls more likely to be diagnosed with the breast cancer compared to the girls that hit puberty later on. Doctors are not sure what is causing puberty to come so early. However, they suspect that the increased percentage of obesity could have played a role. The researchers used standard measure of breast cancer to count out the girls who had already began their puberty phase.
This relates to biology because it has to do with the living organisms. In this case, it is us humans that are being talked about. Secondly, it talks about puberty and breast cancer. Puberty is a phase where the body's hormones start to act up and change the body a little. What the article is saying is that an early start on puberty can lead to breast cancer, Breast cancer is connected to the increased rate of puberty at such a young age. Breast cancer is when a tumor is growing uncontrollably at the breast of one's body.
We should care about this because breast cancer is a very serious disease. It can lower the life span of the organism, which includes humans. We wouldn't want more people to have breast cancer because we are doing research so we can get rid of it. The way that puberty plays a role is unexpected and the reason is unknown. Because of the unknown reason, scientists would probably run tests on girls that reached puberty early to try to figure out what went wrong in our bodies.
