Oil rigs, Coal mines, nuclear power, and other harmful forms of energy are costly and as the new keeps brining up diminishing but solar, thermal, wind, and water power is all reusable. So why don't we sue those you ask? Well, as we see now in "World's first solar power plant that can work at night" by David Biello, we are! The solar plant uses solar energy to heat up molten salt and utilize the thermal energy stored to produce energy during the night. The plant is located in Sicily and erected on July 14, 2010 and named Archimede after the great scientist. Also, molten salt is clean it needs to be heated to a temperature of around five hundred- fifty degree Celsius meaning that it can be used to store even more thermal energy and as a secondary form of power steams which is used for turbines also. Although a clean energy source the salts solidify at 220 degrees Celsius, so the plant must use some natural gases to heat up the salts.
Green energy is a new advancement in the scientific field and someone a controversial subject but to better serve ourselves and the planet it is a necessity to research. The article displays the impact of new energy and the thought and plans put into it. The idea of science is to benefit this is exactly that the benefit of clean energy contrast to the harmful energy we utilize now.
This article is important because it adds to the green movement which could give some momentum and raise awareness. The article also influence others to get involve and put pressure on the government to put more research into green energy especially now after the BP disaster. Lastly, the article is a in detail description of the plant and is non bias to whether or not to use green energy.
