Researchers reported that consumers of calcium supplements to ward off osteoporosis are at 30 percent increase risk of heart attack and therefore advised that people take more calcium-rich foods, including exercise and keep a healthy weight to prevent osteoporosis. it is true because the calcium from food absorb slower than the pills, so the blood calcium level hardly changes. when you take calcium supplements the blood calcium level increases within four to six hours.
According to Ian Reid and his colleagues, Calcium supplements are not as natural as people regard them to be. Reid and his colleagues conducted a meta-analysis encompassing 11 studies that tracked nearly 12, 000 elderly people. half of them were given calcium supplements and the other half placebo or dummy pills. they found out that 30 percent increase in heart attacks in the people who were randomized to take calcium.
