How does Mosquitoes extinction affect the birds, the natural airplane?

Bye to DDT. But yet, there is a new microbicide known as Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) that is used to exterminate mosquitoes. Previous researches have shown that this product was harmless to the vertebrae. Thanks to a French team that instigated on this case and found out that exterminating mosquito with this production affect the food chain. Certain types of birds get energy from these sweet mosquitoes. The French team led by Brigitte Poulin, a bird ecologist at the Tour du Valat research concluded that “the overall breeding success of birds at sites sprayed with Bti was lower than those at untreated sites.” The team concluded that this product, despite the fact that it does diminish the bird population is far safer than chemical products that were previously used in many countries.
This article has to do with science because it involves biological species, mosquitoes and birds. It further discusses about the digestive system. Therefore, this article is related to science.
I am concerned because birds are part of the food web. So, one species of the food web extinguishes, it will somehow affect us, as human being. It is in our own interest to safeguard the bird population.
