What does Wheat Genetic Code Has to do with Humans?

After the discovery of the human genetic code, scientists lunched series of research tackling to figure out the genetic code of many other species. Wheat is indeed one of the world famous plants and the most used. Published by RAPHAEL G. SATTER, Associated Press Writer, the article is title Scientists: “We've cracked wheat's genetic code” in order to show the excitement that scientists have gained through this discovery.

This discovery meant for the world scientists that others complicated things such as finding a cure for all sort of cancer, HIV can be resolved because the genetic code of wheat is five times larger than the human’s. This meant that lots of efforts were put in in order to achieve this. Genetic is one of the most delicate and complicated biological concept to deal with because every species has its own genetic code that is different from others. This will help science in a way that this discovery helped scientists understood that work still needs to be done.

This article interest me because wheat is consumed and everyone is responsible for what he/she is consuming. So, cracking down the genetic code of wheat will open doors to breeding and genetic mutation. This means that the world will soon see more different brands of wheat that might affect the world’s health issue. In another way, it might solve the hunger problem.
