As students are heading back to school, so are bedbugs. Colleges across the United States are experiencing the reign on bedbugs. Colleges such as Stanford, Ohio State and University of Florida have reported to have confronted these bugs. Bed bugs are tiny blood-sucking insects that dwell in the cracks of your mattress and leave itchy welts. Colleges, students and parents do not seem to be too worried about these pests but measures are being taken to prevent them. Heaters have been installed to heat rooms up to 120 degrees to draw out the bugs and also to incinerate them.
This topic relates to science and biology because it relates to the circulatory system with blood and also diseases. Though bedbugs do not carry diseases they suck out blood and leave red spots. Our bodies react to these spots and affect our anatomy.
We should care about this topic because thousands of college students live in these dorms and may drag them to their homes and into public places. When these bugs have reached the public, it will be hard to tame their growth. People will have these welts all over their bodies and the homes will be raided by them.
