Space-Based Detector Could Find Anti-Universe

The idea of the exsistence has been reserved for science fiction for quite a while, the idea that their could a mirror image of our universe somewhere on the edge of space seems too weird to be true. yet, the idea is still there, anti-matter is a known element that is the opposite of matter. scientists think that when the big-bang took place the explosion produced equal amounts of matter and anti-matter. so, where is all the anti-matter? scientists hope to find this out when they attach the new Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) to Kennedy Space Station in one year.

Anti-matter is a fairly new concept, it is the exact opposite of matter and when they meet they annihilate each other in a massive explosion. we have been able to produce anti-matter in very small quantities by supe-colliding various elements. the plan for the AMS is to pick up energy-charged cosmic rays, then for scientists to analyze the data. the AMS does this with its massive core magnet.

Understanding anti-matter isn't the only hope for this mission. scientists also hope to understand dark matter as well. dark matter is as much a mystery as anti-matter. all we know about it is that it is invisible and it makes up 95 percent of our universe. this machine might open up a gateway for understanding how our universe got started and if their is life somewhere else. let's hope that this 2 billion dollar machine isn't just a dud.
