Let the Master do its Magic

A clinical trial at Tufts Medical Center has proved that Tai chi is an effective therapy for fibromyalgia. After twelve weeks of doing Tai chi there was a significant difference in these patients physical and mental health. About one third of the patients stopped using their medication after taking Tai Chi twice a week and twenty minutes daily. Tai Chi is a Chinese form of exercise that uses slow movements called the yin and the yang. This study involved the yang movements. Although this seems like an easy way to help ease the pain of fibromyalgia many people still reject this form of therapy.

This relates to biology because it has to do with a disease that causes chronic pain, stiffness, and tenderness in the muscles, tendons and joints. Mostly women suffer from this disease, and it is also very common. And this non- medicated form of treatment benefits those who are suffering from this painful disease in different ways.

Medicine is very expensive and usually with these kinds of disesases patients are on more than one type of medication. However Tai Chi is inexpensive and it's also a form of excersice that is relaxing. Not only that but it helps you socially and spirutually.
