Dogs May Be More Than Man's Best Friend

The saying that dog is man's best friend may go just a bit further; scientists are saying that pets helped shape the evolution of man ! Common day pets like cats, dogs and even some domestic animals like cows might have a key involvement in human evolution. Scientists are claiming that almost 2.6 million years ago humans switched from an all vegetarian-like diet to an diet filled with meat. They believe this is because they learned to build new weapons capable to help hunt and kill their prey. This also made us take in the animals that also hunted. The end result, scientists say, is that "managing all of these animals -- or just tracking them -- requires technology, knowledge and ways to preserves and convey information. So languages had to develop and evolve to meet the challenges. "

This is related to science/biology because this is the evolution of man. This article is all about biology especially because the life the animals were also effected because as men used them , they were "assigned" special jobs. For example the cows were only used fro their milk and the chicken for their meat and eggs. In a way the animals were tools as well , they provided valuable resources.

People need to know about this topic because everyday pets mean more to us than just as pets. They actually helped shape who we are today and everything we have; including our language. I found it very interesting that scientists found this out . I would never think that animals would have this big of a contribution to us as humans !
