Dog Breeding by Humans is Changing Canine Brains

By breeding different types of dogs people are able to come up with a new kind of dog. These dogs can have different fur types and colors, but what we don't know is that by breeding these different dogs it can change their brain shape. Scientists have conducted studies where they manipulated the skull shapes of different dogs. In these studies they found that certain parts of the dogs brains like the olfactory lobe, which is linked to the dogs smell, is affected by the breeding of the dogs.

This relates to science and biology because it discusses how humans have a big role in the breeding of new dog species. We can manipulate the specific things we want in a dog and control it which is science.

We should care about this topic because if we're not careful the dogs behavior could start to change. Since we are breeding dogs of different head shapes and sizes the end result for the head of two completely different dogs could ultimately change the ways the new dogs act and think because of the dogs with different heads that think and behave differently. Scientists are not quite sure if the breeding affects the behaior or not but further studies are going to be conducted looking into this topic.
