The western diet of fried, fatty, packaged, and processed food is linked to the cause of ADHD. This may make you think twice about your diet. A study of the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in Perth, Australia, evaluated the diets of 1,800 teens, 115 of whom had been diagnosed with ADHD before the age of 14.
These teens dietary habits were divided into two catagories which was the "Western Diet" which had all the fatty, processed, packaged foods. And the "healthy Diet" Which consisted of unsaturated fats, whole grain, etc. The resultes were that the western diet was strongly associated with ADHD while the healthy diet had no connection.
But this is just a link and not the full picture. Unsaturated fats can actually benefit the brain. But this western diet with all these chemicals are already believed to worsen ADHD symptoms.
The way this is related to biology is that this diet is actually affecting peoples lives and causing ADHD which is bad. It is going to be a health problem. Also its important because fatty food are already bad for one's body but findng out that it has strong connections with ADHD makes it worse. So you may think twice before you bite into that burger of yours.
