When a woman is pregnant she's told not to smoke, drink, take medicine, lift something heavy!!! but she's never told not to breath in air. The environment, is polluted with dangerous gases and deadly chemicals that we all inhale. The air a pregnant woman inhales can cause damage to her unborn infant.Studies show that pregnant women who live in high polluted areas can have children with low IQs, cancer,ADD,ADHD, and so many other disorders. Other studies also proved that a community where polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or PAHs is high the IQ of the children is low.
Pollution has great effect on our environment and the children.Scientist all over the world have researched the effects pollution has on unborn child and believe that well known airborne pollutants are associated with low birth weight, diminished lung function, lung cancer and asthma. Pollution has great effect on our environment and the children.Scientists know that many chemicals including PAHs can cross the placenta, but they don’t understand how they may interfere with a fetus' developing brain. Also, PAHs may affect the fetus’ DNA directly. When a mother breathes in PAHs, those chemicals are changed into byproducts in the bloodstream that can cross the placental boundary and bind directly to a fetus’ DNA, explained Susan Edwards, a graduate student at the Imperial College in London, and the lead author on the Poland study.
We all live in an polluted area, we cannot CONTROL the chemicals we inhale, and the factories around us are killing us slowly but surely. Many people plan on having children but they don't understand the damage behind the environment. Many defects in an infant could have been prevented yet the government has not tried to prevent them. Expecting parents should be very cautious about the environment they live in.
