In our solar system, the sun is the largest and the brightest. But have you ever thought about a star brighter than the sun? Recent discovery found a star that is 300 times bigger than the Sun! Imagine the earth compared to this newly discovered star. This new star is also more than a million times brighter than the Sun. Scientists named this new star R136a1. R136a1 is located about 165,000 light years away from the Milky Way. Scientists also believe that this star is at its middle age now because it is losing mass. Unlike us, the stars are born with a heavy mass and as it ages, they uses up their masses and gets lighter. As of now, scientists believe that it has already lost 1/5 of its mass.
This article is related to science because it tells us more about the space. It also shows us that there might be other things in space that we have yet to find out. The space is enormous and there are many secrets that we have to uncover.
We should care about this because if there is such a huge star out there that we have just discovered, there might be tons of others. We might ever find aliens and flowing water on other planets. Also, since this planet is losing mass so quickly, when it uses up all its energy, it might effect us even though the star is so far away. The explosion of the planet might very well end our existence.
