Internet Use Connected with Depression

The Internet is something that everyone uses in the world. A couple of months ago in an article, scientists discovered that people who use the Internet a lot, are more likely to be in depression. People who use the computer, use it to communicate with other people, chat, pay bills, research etc. Scientists have found out in recent studies, that people who are addicted to the Internet are more likely to be depressed, than those who use it only daily. Users who are addicted to the Internet, can experience mental health problems. Studies showed that addicted Internet-users were people who were 18 and younger. Also the studies showed that out of 1,319 people between the ages of 16-51, about 1.2% of all the participants were addicted to the Internet. The use of so much Internet, can lead to a person whose addicted, to only communicate with people in the virtual world, and have no communication in the real world. Depression is something very serious nowadays.

Depression occurs in many people. This article relates to biology in the concept on depression and addiction. Addiction in this case, is a state of being held into a habit that can be hard to leave, and may cause severe trauma. Depression is a state in which a person has a low mood, and may feel sad, hopeless, etc. Depression can happen to anyone. Addiction can be a condition that sometimes can be stopped and sometimes not. For people who are addicted, leaving their addiction can be harder than starting one. Depression can last a long time and a person can make others suffer because of their condition. Being addicted can have physical and mental results. When addicted, the person may not have good judgement, and may also be seen as kind of off balance. When depressed, the person can be seen as down, lack of energy etc. The Internet is a source that can be used for all types of search, and can be either addicting or not.

Knowing that there are many people in the world that suffer from depression, is serious. Learning that using the Internet excessively can lead to depression is even more serious. This article was put on the news/website because there are many people who suffer from depression, and many people that are addicted. Also to inform us of what just about everyone relies on, the Internet, can do to the mind and the person. We should care about this because as time progresses, it may be, that more people will fall into depression, and fall into an internet-use addiction. Also we should care because just by sending a message to people to not use the computer a lot, we can ensure that those people will have some communication with both the real world and the virtual world. Lastly, we will have less addictions, and more people that can live their lives out of the addiction and beat the depression.
