Recently, arrangements to relocate 10's of thousands of rare sea turtle eggs have been made so that when the sea turtles hatch, they wont crawl right into the BP oil spill. To also help, the babies were hatched in a special facility where they could be looked after, then released on multiple Atlantic beaches.
This article is related to science because it has to do with the affect that the BP oil spill can have on baby turtles that desperately need to be assisted or they could all die. This would lead to a decrease in thier population which in turn could affect the populations of other animals in the Gulf. The oil spill has really caused a lot of environmental problems and this is just one of the solutions that people have come up with to restore some order. However, there are still many more creatures suffering from the oil spill and problems need to be solved soon.
We should care because the BP oil spill has affected so many species of sea animals and all of the species of sea turtles have already been considered threatened or endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. If people dont relocate them, the hatchlings could get injured or killed by the oil.
